Amanda captured us so beautifully.
We love her style and we all adored being in her company in the forest.
The time flew by! We'd never, as a family spent time so specially together. We didn't look at our phones. We played and we relaxed. The children noticed the birds looking for worms. This was so much more than a photoshoot. It was an adventure we will remember forever.

Amanda captured us so beautifully. I love her style. The photos are absolutely stunning. They made me tear up! The shoot was so much fun, it looked as though we were immersed in a magical fairytale! and we all adored being in her company in the forest.

Family Together

The Nature Photoshoot
Arranging a family photoshoot in nature offers so many benefits.
Surrounded by trees, families and children engage with each other naturally.
No shot ever feels forced.
The children are free to play. They don't have to pose or sit still or behave. My job is to photograph each family in a way that is tailored to them. It doesn't feel like a photoshoot, it feels like an experience frozen in time and re-lived every time you bring out the album or pass the walls.
No shoot is ever the same, just as no human or family is the same. We are magical because we are different!
Sunlight casting dapples through leaves is an unbeatable backdrop. Clouds are ideal from a subject lighting perspective. Drizzle oozes magic. Snow is stunning and autumn leaves bring out the best in everyone. There are so many natural spaces in North London which offer beautiful backgrounds for family portraits.
The disadvantage of organising an outdoor family photography session, is of course, the risk of bad weather, but barring a thunderstorm, we go ahead. If there is a thunderstorm or strong winds, we reschedule. If for some reason, we cannot reschedule because for example, there are so many in a group, it is difficult to rearrange, or gran has only flown in for a week, then some clients have booked a private room with character.

Documentary Style
Home Photoshoot
These wonderful home family photoshoots capture those ordinary daily-life moments that can so easily be forgotten in the future.
Our home environment is where we are most comfortable, and that sense of ease and authenticity reflects in the unposed images.
I follow what your family love to do, whether that's your daily tasks, such as cooking a meal, or playing a game, walking the dog, a pillow fight, or gardening. It is up to you. Or it could be centred around something more occasional, like welcoming home a new baby, or having a tea party with friends.
I do like to get some outdoor shots for variety. This could involve a brief walk to the nearest London green space, your garden, a communal vegetable patch, or the front door of the home.

What’s the best time of day for a family photoshoot? For outdoor shoots, I love shooting in the early morning or late afternoon—that soft, golden light is gorgeous. But with young kids, I’ll always prioritise their rhythm over the light. Happy, full bellied, well-rested children > perfect golden hour. For home shoots, late morning tends to work best with natural light.

I want to have nice photos of my family to hang on the wall, but I can't help but feel like having a photoshoot is a bit cringe or contrived. What do you think? The idea of a "photoshoot" can sometimes bring to mind stiff poses, forced smiles, and everyone dressed the same—but that’s not my approach. What I aim to do is capture your family as you truly are. That might mean kids playing in the garden, cuddles on the couch, or a walk through the woods—whatever feels most like you. It’s less about perfect poses and more about preserving real connections and little moments that tell your family’s story. In the end, these aren’t photos for Instagram—they’re for your walls, your memory books, your future. And when they're honest and natural, they age beautifully. So no need to worry about things feeling forced. Just show up as yourselves, and I’ll take care of the rest.

Can we choose the location?Absolutely! I’m happy to suggest some beautiful outdoor spots around London—like Hampstead Heath, Richmond Park, or a hidden gem in your own neighbourhood. Or, we can shoot in your home where everyone feels most at ease.
-
What if my child has a meltdown?Totally normal. Kids are kids! I’ve worked with lots of families, and part of what I do is go with the flow. We pause when needed, reset, and play our way back into connection. Some of my favourite images come after a wobble.

What do we wear? Most families who come to me for a shoot—whether it's in the parks, streets, or at home in London—turn up in their everyday clothes. And I love that. I'm a natural family photographer, and I specialise in capturing your real life, not a styled version of it. I know some photographers send out full style guides or recommend wearing neutral colours, pastels, and coordinating outfits. If that’s your thing, go for it! But if it’s not, please don’t stress. I’d much rather photograph you in the actual clothes you and your kids love and wear every day. That said, here are a few practical tips: Avoid bold logos, cartoon characters or big brand names—they can be distracting in the photos. Think a little about how you’ll look as a group—you don’t have to match, but it’s nice if your outfits feel like they belong in the same story. Wear what feels like you. If your child lives in flowery dresses, brilliant. If they prefer shorts and muddy boots, perfect. I’ve never had someone turn up in heels, but if you wear them every day and feel yourself in them, then they belong in your photos. I often describe my own style as a "wannabe surf look stuck in the early noughties"—but that’s just who I am, and your shoot should reflect who you are too. A quick word about bags, buggies & bits Family photoshoots are like little mini adventures. We’ll move around a bit—whether we’re in a local London park or your home—and often the parent (usually mum!) ends up carrying a bag that they don’t want in the photos. Sometimes I wear it, sometimes we stash it behind a tree. If you can bring fewer items, it will definitely feel more freeing—but I 100% get what it's like wrangling kids. Back in the day, I needed a donkey to carry all the kit too. If possible, keep phones and sunglasses tucked away. Phones in pockets can be a bit of a visual distraction (especially those rectangle bulges!)—I’m always happy to carry them in my bag for you during the shoot.
-
How long does a shoot last? Most sessions last around 60–90 minutes. I allow time for snack breaks, outfit changes, or just giving kids space to warm up. It’s very relaxed and not rushed.
-
Can we bring grandparents, dogs, or extra people?Yes please! Dogs are part of the family, and grandparents bring an extra layer of connection. Just let me know in advance so I can plan the flow of the shoot.
-
What happens after the shoot? You’ll receive a private online gallery within 2 weeks, where you can download your images and order prints if you’d like. I also offer help with choosing wall art or albums—because your photos deserve to be seen, not just saved in a folder.
-
What’s your approach to editing the photos? My editing style is warm, natural, and true to life. I don’t do heavy filters or over-airbrushing. I might remove the odd scratch or snot bubble, but my goal is to keep your family looking like your family.

What happens if it rains on the day of our outdoor shoot?London weather can be unpredictable! I’ll usually check in a day or two before with an update. Light rain can actually create some beautiful, moody photos (especially with puddle-jumping kids!), but if it's heavy or just miserable, I’m always happy to reschedule. Flexibility is part of the process.
